PM Hopes People in the Country Are Aware of the Global Gas Prices

SWITZERLAND: After the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has raised a new issue that the world is now facing: the Russia-Ukraine war, which has affected fuel prices and possibly food crisis. The Prime Minister also questioned the price of gasoline in Europe which now costs more than $2 US dollars per liter.

From Davos, Switzerland, during a meeting with more than 2,000 Cambodians in Europe on Saturday night, 21 May, Prime Minister Hun Sen asked them about the current price of gasoline in Europe. They responded that it was more than 2 euros or equivalent to almost 10,000 riel per liter.

He said that the reason why he asked such questions is because during the election campaign, there will be people who will use gasoline prices in their political platform to deceive the people, while the price of gasoline goes up almost all over the world.

According to the Prakas of the Ministry of Commerce, from 21- 31 May 2022, the price will be 5,500 riel per liter for regular gasoline and 5,200 riel per liter for diesel.
